Itupava Trekking from Curitiba in Morretes & Antonina, Brazil

The Itupava-Path was used in former times to link Curitiba to the coast. After Estrada da Graciosa and the railroad were built, it was not used anymore for transportation and in the 80´s and 90´s young people discovered it as a good adventure alternative. Due to the extreme, uncontrolled use in those years, the path lost a lot of its interest. In a German-Brazilian project, the path has been restored. Mud was taken away from the stones, bridges were built and visitors' centres at the beginning and end of the path were created. In this way the Itupava-Path is again a wonderful alternative for those looking for adventure in the middle of the rain forest, discovering its impressive fauna and flora.

It begins in Quatro Barras, about 20 km from Curitiba and ends in Porto de Cima / Morretes.

Difficulty Level: You should be in good shape and be able to walk at least 8 hours. We will descend the Itupava-Path and if the group is mixed (different ability levels), the hike might last longer.

Itinerary

8:00 - Pick-up in your hotel and transfer to Quatro Barras.
9:00 - Sign in with the visitors centre and begin the hike. You will get a lunch-box with two sandwiches, one cereal bar, one apple and one juice.
17:00 - Arrival in Porto de Cima and tranfer.
17:30 - Transfer back to Curitiba by Estrada da Graciosa.
19:30 - Arrival in Curitiba.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation fees apply as follows:
From booking date to 30 days prior: no charge
15 to 29 days prior to arrival: 50% reimbursement
10 to 14 days prior to arrival: 30% reimbursement
Less than 10 days prior to arrival: full charge

Children Policy

This is a difficult, long hike and is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

All participants pay full price.

What to bring:
- Hiking shoes
- Rain coat
- Flash light (torch) with extra batteries
- Extra clothing (for changing)
- Repellent and sun protection
- Water bottle
- Camera with extra batteries
- Cash, as it might be difficult to withdraw money in Morretes

Payment information:

4 weeks prior to arrival we wil charge 50% of the tour in your credit card.

10 days prior to arrival we will charge the rest.

Other Disclosures

Very important! You should follow all instructions of the local guide. The hiking tour is in the middle of the rain forest and he knows well what you should and should not do.

Due to wheater conditions the tour might be cancelled to assure your safety. In this case we will provide an alternative activity.
