After reaching the Atlantic Rain Forest by train, you will have a hiking tour in State Park Marumbi, followed by swimming in a pool below a waterfall. In the afternoon, you will reach Porto de Cima, in Morretes. Spend the night there and enjoy the atmosphere of a small town in the foothills of Serra do Mar. On the next day, visit the State Park Pau Oco and hike to waterfall Salto da Fortuna. After enjoying a typical local lunch, tasting "barreado" - beef stew - fish and spraws, you will have time to visit the historical town of Morretes. Return to Curitiba by Estrada da Graciosa, stopping for pictures.

Itinerary

Day 1:

08:15: You will leave Curitiba by train and reach Marumbi Station, where you will get off.
10:15: Meet your local mountain guide and sign in at the visitors' centre.
10:30: Start hiking to Rochedinho Hill, in the State Park Marumbi. This tour takes about one hour to reach the top. Time to enjoy your lunch box and the beautiful landscape.
12:00: Beginning of the return trek.
13:00: Swimming in natural pools.
14:00: Hiking to Porto de Cima / Morretes.
16:00: Arrival to the old village of Porto de Cima at your guesthouse (Pousada Oásis or Pousada Itupava).
- Free time for dinner (not included).
- Overnight in Morretes.

Day 2:

08:00: Breakfast.
09:00: Transfer to State Park Pau Oco and hiking to Salto da Fortuna, where you will find a 50 m high waterfall.
14:00: Lunch in the historical centre of Morretes, where you will try the local dish "barreado" - beef stew - with fish and spraws.
15:00: Free time to visit the town.
16:00: Return to the inn and time for a shower.
16:30: Check out and transfer back to Curitiba by Estrada da Graciosa.
18:30: Arrival in Curitiba.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation fees apply as follows:

- From booking date to 30 days prior: no charge
- 15 to 29 days prior to arrival: 50% reimbursement
- 10 to 14 days prior to arrival: 30% reimbursement
- Less than ten days prior to arrival: full charge

Children Policy

This is a hiking tour and is not recommended for kids under 6 years of age.
Children from 6 to 11 years of age pay R$170 per child.
Children 12 years of age and older pay the adult rate.

Train ticket in the "tourist" category, with snacks and Portuguese speaking guide on board (upgrade to the "executivo" category with English speaking guide available for R$40 per person).
Lunch in Morretes (barreado and fish - no beverages or dessert are included).
One lunch box for the trek.
Tours and hiking as described.
Local Portuguese speaking guide (English speaking guide available with a surcharge of R$ 285,- that will be divided into the participants).
One night's stay in Morretes in Pousada Cidreira or Trilha da Serra with breakfast.
Transfers as described.

Payment information:

4 weeks prior to arrival, 50% of the tour will be charged to your credit card.
10 days prior to arrival, the rest will be charged.

What to bring:

Comfortable hiking shoes.
Light clothes in the summer months (Oct-Mar), and an additional jacket in the colder months (Apr-Sep).
Raincoat.
Insect repellent and sun protection.
Bathing suit.
Camera with extra batteries.
Cash, as it might be difficult to withdraw money in Morretes.

Other Disclosures

If you have extra luggage that you do not want to carry during the tour, arrangements can be made for it to arrive in Morretes by train or be left in Curitiba until your return.

Very important! You are advised to follow the instructions of the local guide. The hiking tour is in the middle of the rain forest and he is well-versed with what you should and should not do there.
